Cruising in Italy
One of the most terrific experiences that I have ever had was cruising in the Mediterranean. It was my first water experience and you can bet that I was nervous. I had a tinge of fear about what could happen if we happened to capsize as I watched the strong waves ranging through the blue waters.. Yet, I had this strong urge to adventure and have some fun with my friends whom I was with for a short holiday. It is them who made me not to opt out as I was planning to do.
I didn’t know if I would love the adventure or what I to expect during the 5 day cruising adventure. We had bought a package to sail from Procida, Italy to the Amalfi. I was quiet worried about spending four days sailing. I really didn’t know what to expect.
We arrived in Italy 3 days before the start of the expedition. We wanted to familiarize ourselves with everything and also have time to properly prepare everything which would be needed during the trip. The sailing company greatly helped us in planning and advised us on anything we would need and what they would be specifically providing for us during the tour as where as the itinerary of the whole trip. They were nice and very knowledgeable and we could easily trust them.
Preparations for the Sailing Expedition
On the first day of the tour started at 5pm. We arrived early at the Naples Bay early in the morning and we took a ferry to Procida. We found that the crew was already prepared. We had a brief meeting with them where we provided the documentations needed like insurance details, next of kin etc. we then decided to take some time exploring the beautiful island of Procida. We had some great time at the port of Corricella and we also visited the medieval town of Terra Murata.
In the afternoon we did some shopping for the supplies that we would need. We then headed back to the boat for some basic lessons on safety when sailing and also a brief introduction to the life-on-board. At around 5 and we set sail to. The night was beautiful and it was quiet marvelous as we tossed champagne and chatted the whole night. The waters were quiet calm and the moonlight made the night sailing seem marvelous. That night, we didn’t sleep much. We were all excited about the tour.
We arrived at Ischia early the following morning and docked on the island. Here we visited Spiaggia dei Pescatori beach. The beach was beautiful and offered good view of Castello Aragonese castle which we too visited. In the afternoon we took off to Sorrento where we met other tourists who had gone for a vacation there. That evening we joined a bunch of other guys who were also on tour and shared some Sorrento’s local liqueur with them. It was beautiful watching the scenic views of the Bay of Naples.
Life and Adventure in the Sea
The next day we sailed to Pompeii. By this time, I had become used to life-on-board and I was actually loving it. There was a lot of heritage and culture at Pompeii. We hired a private guide who took us through the ruins of the city. We spent the entire morning there before heading to Mount Vesuvius National Park later in the afternoon. One thing which amazed me here was the volcano tour to the crater of the mountain.
We spent the night there and the following day we set sail to our final destination, Amalfi. We arrived there in the afternoon. The beach was beautiful and amazing. Being on summer there were many visitors there already and we had great time art a private beach which we booked. We spent more five days here before ending our vacation.
All in all, I really loved and enjoyed the whole expedition and we had great time in the waters. It was an exciting experience for all of us. I’m more grateful to the tour company for their efforts to ensure that we were all comfortable during the tour and for the support they showed us. They were wonderful throughout the adventure and their amazing experience made us have good time during the tour.
